5 Things Every Tradie Website Needs to Turn Visitors Into Enquiries

Written and reviewed by Matt Barrell. Matt runs Barrell Consulting and prepares practical guidance about local visibility, websites and enquiry follow-up for Brisbane and Moreton Bay tradies.

Having a website is great, but if it doesn’t actually generate phone calls or quote requests, it’s just a digital business card gathering dust. To turn casual visitors into paying customers, your website needs to be built for conversion.

Here are the five non-negotiable elements every tradie website must have.

1. Clear Service Descriptions and Pricing

Don’t make people guess what you do. If you’re an electrician, list your specific services: switchboard upgrades, emergency callouts, rewiring, etc. While you don’t need to list exact prices for complex jobs, giving a starting price or a clear explanation of your quoting process removes friction.

2. Trust Signals

People are inviting you into their homes. They need to trust you. Include photos of yourself and your team (not stock photos), display your license numbers, and prominently feature customer testimonials.

3. Easy Contact Forms and Phone Numbers

Your phone number should be in the top right corner of every page, and it should be clickable on mobile. Your contact form should ask for the bare minimum: Name, Phone, Suburb, and a brief description of the problem.

4. Mobile-Friendly Design

Over 60% of local service searches happen on a mobile phone. If your website design requires people to pinch and zoom to read your text, they will leave and call your competitor.

5. Strong Calls to Action (CTAs)

Tell people exactly what to do next. Instead of a generic “Submit” button, use action-oriented text like “Get a Free Quote” or “Book a Callout Today”.
