How Much Does a Tradie Website Cost in Australia?

Written and reviewed by Matt Barrell. Matt runs Barrell Consulting and prepares practical guidance about local visibility, websites and enquiry follow-up for Brisbane and Moreton Bay tradies.

A tradie website can cost a few hundred dollars in software and your own time, around $1,000 for a tightly scoped professional package, or well into five figures for a custom agency project. The right price depends on what the business actually needs—not whether one option carries a fancier label.

The ranges below are practical budgeting guides for Australian small trade businesses in 2026. They are not a fixed industry price list, and quotes vary with content, integrations, photography, e-commerce and ongoing support.

Typical tradie website cost ranges

Website model Useful budget guide Usually suits
DIY website builder $0–$600 a year in software, plus your time An owner comfortable writing, designing, configuring and maintaining the site
Basic one-page or template setup $500–$1,500 A new business that needs a simple online presence and one enquiry path
Focused small-business website $1,000–$4,000 An established tradie needing clear services, service areas, proof and quote actions
Custom small-business agency build $4,000–$12,000+ A business needing original strategy, design, photography, extensive copy or integrations
Complex bespoke website $12,000+ Multi-location, e-commerce, membership, calculator, portal or custom-software requirements

Always confirm whether GST, domain registration, hosting, maintenance, paid plugins, photography and future changes are included.

What changes the price?

Pages and content

Five focused pages are faster to plan and review than dozens of service and suburb pages. Copy also costs more when the provider must interview staff, research services and create original case studies rather than work from accurate information you supply.

Design and proof

A template can convert extremely well when the message, proof, mobile layout and enquiry path are properly structured. Custom design becomes valuable when the business has a distinctive brand, complex audience or requirements a standard layout cannot handle.

Features and integrations

Booking systems, quote calculators, e-commerce, memberships, CRM connections and custom forms add setup, testing and maintenance. A click-to-call button and straightforward quote form are often enough for a smaller trade business.

Ongoing ownership

Ask who owns the domain, website, content and accounts after payment. Also confirm who handles updates, backups, security and software renewals. A low build price can become expensive when the business cannot move or edit the site later.

What Barrell Consulting’s $1,000 package includes

The Barrell Consulting website package is deliberately narrow: up to five focused pages, a planned structure, structured first-draft copy using the information you supply, mobile-friendly layouts, foundational Local SEO, an enquiry form and two organised amendment rounds.

It is intended for a straightforward Brisbane or Moreton Bay trade business. It is not the right package for e-commerce, custom software, complex integrations, a full rebrand or a large original-copy project.

Questions to ask before accepting a quote

  • How many pages and amendment rounds are included?
  • Who writes the first draft, and what information must I supply?
  • Will it be easy to call or request a quote on a mobile?
  • Are domain, hosting, maintenance and plugin renewals separate?
  • Do I own the completed website and accounts after final payment?
  • What happens when I need a new service page later?

Choose the scope that fits the business

A cheaper focused package is not automatically better than a larger custom build, and a larger build is not automatically better at winning enquiries. The sensible choice is the smallest scope that can accurately explain the services, show genuine proof and make the next step obvious.
